A reimagined Pro SL that prioritizes grip, stability and lightweight performance without leaning on classic leather styling. It delivers class-leading spikeless traction, roomy fit for wider feet and reliable heel comfort, though the forefoot ride is noticeably firm and the sporty looks will not please everyone.

The FootJoy Pro SL 2026 takes the long-running Pro SL line in a distinctly modern, performance-first direction. It swaps traditional leather for a synthetic Z-Tec upper, pares weight down, and pairs a new ARCTrax/SL spikeless outsole with an Ortholite X25 fitbed. The result is a shoe built around traction and stability, designed to hold its line through the swing and keep feet fresh over a full round.

Traction is the headline here. The ARCTrax/SL outsole pattern and lug design deliver exceptional grip in wet and slippery conditions, offering security on uneven lies and through rotation. Stability is reinforced by targeted support features and a structured last that keeps the foot steady. That secure foundation makes the shoe feel confident underfoot whether walking or hitting shots from awkward stances.

Comfort is mostly a win, particularly for wider-footed golfers. The Pro SL’s toe box has been opened up, and the fit accommodates players who need more room. Heel cushioning and the Ortholite X25 fitbed provide welcome underfoot support, so day-long comfort is achievable. The trade-off is the forefoot ride. Multiple testers describe the forefoot as quite firm; it helps with stability and a responsive feel but reduces the plush underfoot sensation some golfers prefer.

Aesthetic choices will divide golfers. The synthetic upper keeps the shoe lightweight and waterproof, but it lacks the refined look of premium leather and can read sporty or plasticky to some. Overall, the Pro SL suits golfers who want cutting-edge spikeless performance, especially traction and stability, and who accept firmer forefoot cushioning and a more athletic appearance in exchange.

Pros

  • Outstanding spikeless traction, especially in wet conditions
  • Very stable platform that supports a confident swing
  • Roomier toe box and fit works well for wider feet
  • Lightweight construction reduces fatigue over a round
  • Supportive heel cushioning and Ortholite fitbed for all-day comfort
  • Waterproof synthetic upper that is easy to maintain

Cons

  • Forefoot ride is notably firm and may feel harsh to some golfers
  • Styling is conservative or sporty rather than refined leather dress
  • Synthetic upper can appear plasticky and may mark more easily
  • Outsole firmness can become more noticeable during play
